Roofing Companies
As you prepare for a roof replacement, it’s helpful to schedule it at a time when you will not be disturbed by the noise. Knowing the number of days it will take to replace your roof is a great advantage. At Castle Roofing Group, our team has decades of experience and is known for both our speed and the expert quality of our work. We do everything we can to minimize hassle and inconvenience during your roof replacement.
The number of days it will take to replace your roof depends on a variety of factors. Below are some of the factors to consider when estimating the amount of time it will take to replace your roof. You can also learn more about what to expect from our re-roof process here.
Type of Roofing Material
The type of roofing material is the first factor to consider when estimating the number of days to replace a roof.
Asphalt Shingles
For an average 1,600 square foot roof with no complications, it usually takes 1 to 2 days to replace a roof with asphalt shingles.
Other Types of Roofing
To replace a roof with slate shingles, wood shingles, or tile roofing, the process can take anywhere from 3 to 10 days.
Weather Conditions
In Florida, we can work year round on roof replacements without worrying about snow and ice. However, it is not possible to replace a roof in the rain, and during the summer months, we do get our fair share of wet weather.
Rainy conditions can extend the number of days for a roofing project. During rainy season, our teams work as efficiently as possible, arriving between 7 – 8 AM each day and making the most of the day. We carefully tarp our work during rain and pick up where we left off to complete your roof replacement as soon as possible.
Size of the Roof
Depending on the size of the roof, your roof replacement could take longer than the estimates given above for a 1600 square foot roof.
Roof Architecture
If a roof has a steep pitch and various changes in the slope and angle of the roof, the roof replacement process will take a little longer. Replacing the roofing around valleys and other seams requires time and care to prevent leaks and make sure the finished roof looks well-finished. Shoddy work around roof seams is no place to “cut corners,” literally.
Condition of Roof Structure
Your roof estimator will let you know if there is wood rot or other problems with the underlying roof structure that will have to be repaired or replaced. In this case, the roof replacement will take a little longer, but we will account for that in the initial estimate we give you as to how long your roof will take.
Roof Accessibility
If there are other structures obstructing access to the roof, this can require us to factor a little more into the roof replacement. This could be dense shrubbery around the house, houses close together in an urban area, or other factors that prevents us from parking the roofing equipment close to the roof.
Quality vs. Speed
In roofing, faster is not always better. Be sure to find a roofing company that does not sacrifice quality for speed. At the same time, a good roofing company will give you an estimate of how long it will take to replace your roof and will stick to it, or maintain excellent communication with you if the timeline has to be adjusted. Hiring a licensed, insured local roofer with a good track record is your best defense against “fly by night” roofers that will collect a roofing deposit and never finish the job.
